JUST A YEAR AGO
🔵 A year ago, I had an opportunity to present my ideas and position on issues to the good people of KNUST when I campaigned for the position of the SRC president 2018, with the message; looking at the Bigger picture of what our SRC should be doing.
Unfortunately, I could not appear on the ballot screen as a result of a heart broken disqualification verdict.
âš« Your interests have brought me thus far. A year ago there was work to be done, a work we still see. I am still around not because I am "power hungry" as few seem to project to you. KNUST gives every student a fair chance and renewed hope in our endeavours. Today, I remind myself and everyone, of the struggles we made together --a journey we continue today. The worst that can happen to anyone is “Not to try it again." So while I did not claim the ultimate prize due to a heart broken disqualification verdict, we transformed the electorate in a way that cannot be reversed, and every aspirant, especially everyone who thinks they want to be president --- needs to understand that the road to success comes through failure -- I learnt it the hard way. It shouldn't matter the number of times one is running, It shouldn't matter the positions one has held especially if one doesn't have anything to show, It shouldn't matter the school one attended, it shouldn't matter the money someone else is pumping into their campaign. Students believe that student leadership keep failing them especially when mouthwatering promises do not get honored after winning election. This is so discouraging to the point that most students do not expect anything new from the SRC and its leadership. I have not given up on the SRC yet and I encourage all students to have hope in what we can do together.
🔴 The DUTY BOUND AGENDA does not represent a politically driven ambition but a conscious and optimistic attempt to reclaim the glory days of student leadership. I seek power not to fill position but to bring forth a leadership poised to harness our collective energy for the greater good. It is not greed that makes me, it is the circumstance and the necessity --- DUTY BOUND.
Join us, as we make the SRC more responsive because we are DUTY BOUND REGARDLESS , to find pragmatic means of curbing the issues that confront us as students.
